Clara’s 1st birthday party was more than I could have ever wished for. Family, friends, good food and music.

One of the reasons that I have hesitated posting this on the blog is because Maddie Spohr, daughter of Heather and Mike (Next Exit wedding clients and friends), passed away somewhat unexpectedly 2 days after the birthday party. Our hearts have been filled with sorrow since the passing of this perfect little 17 month old girl. Mike and Heather both told me at the funeral how they were glad that Maddie had so much fun at the party before the tragic day.

Maria and Peter are beyond adorable. I was trying to figure out what to write about them and found Maria’s very first ever email that she wrote me when she was inquiring with our company.
“Hi, I am looking for very special photographers to capture my upcoming wedding in West Los Angeles. I have had an opportunity to view your site and love your pictures! I would like to inquire about your availability and services/packages.“
Is she sweet or what? I dunno, something about the “very special photographers” part put a smile on my face. I hope that we exceeded your expectations, guys.

It’s that time of the year again when we all reflect on the past wedding season and admire all of the exquisite events that we were a part of at Next Exit Photography.
We just completed our SIXTH wedding season. Ah!

Every single couple has made an impact on our lives…the toasts, the dance, the kiss, the friendships, the first look, the laughter, the tears, and the love. So much love that we get to share with each and every one of our amazing clients.

2009 is going to be another stellar year for us, I know. We will continue to provide our clients with the very best images and the very best service in the wedding photography market.
We already have weddings booked all over Southern California, Cabo San Lucas, New York and New Jersey! I am so excited for the coming season.
Yes, we still have lots of openings, so make sure to schedule a consultation sooner than later if you are considering booking with our studio.

And, to our portrait clients, we love you, too!
I haven’t done a specific count, but I know that we have had the pleasure and honor of photographing about 100 gorgeous families this year.
(yes, we’re VERY behind on our blog) but we hope to be able to start catching up in the new year when wedding season is a bit slower.

We’re doing things a little backwards these days… Clients are actually receiving their proofs before we blog the wedding! Hey, we figure it’s more important for us to keep up with your entire wedding set as apposed to a couple of blogtastic images on here. All in good time, we promise!

Here is a sweet note Lauren emailed me along with her list of vendors…“We’re back and your husband is a genius, which I’m sure you know and it might be boring to hear. But seriously, like, whoa. Everyone has raved about the photos and even the producer-types have been all, “Angles! Lighting! Skillz!” regarding the photography. “ =) Don’t worry, I won’t let it get to his head~!
Lauren and John are one of our nicest couples of the year and we love that Lauren added some beautiful additions to Clara’s library…

Cat Rocks!

Lets just start by saying Cat is amazing.
August was crazy. The studio had an insane amount of weddings, and last weekend alone, I shot 3. So knowing darn well that I needed a break, Cat decided that she was going to take me out yesterday. Yesterday morning, she tells me that I need to take a mandatory mid-afternoon nap and that I needed to be ready to leave at 6pm sharp. I had no clue as to what she had planned, but I do have experience with her “surprises.” I’m thinking, she got a baby sitter and we are going to dinner and a movie. Hey that’s cool. Sounds like a good break from work to me.
So its 6:30 and we are at dinner at a local sushi bar. Up until then she has been teasing me and inviting me to figure out what she has been up to. I say as I always do, “What time does the movie start?” In response, she hands me a couple of tickets to the Bob Dylan concert at the Santa Monica Civic Center. I had NO idea.
I love my wife. We have been together for 9 years this month and she has given me everything I could ever want, including the most amazing daughter ever.
And Bob Dylan tickets? She knows me better then I know myself.
