Lauren and Eddie met at UCLA as undergrads and we returned with them to shoot their engagement pictures last week. Their wedding this fall is at the Firestone Vineyard in Santa Inez, one of our very favorite places to shoot in Southern California. The grounds are so beautiful and full of perfectly photogenic spots. Wedding photographers like us get super excited when our clients are fun and fabulous. L&E are both those things. They were up for anything, as long as they got great pictures. And, they got them! They sure are hot stuff! BTW, stay tuned for an exclusive blog entry for their 4-month-old bulldog, Duke. Adi and I fell instantly in love with the Dukmeister and couldn’t stop snappin’! “Next Exit Pets” is on a roll! P.S. Another thing I adore about Lauren is that we share a great admiration for the Man, Jack Bauer.
Congratulations to our fabulous 2004 Next Exit Bride and now, best buddie, Becky Bloom, on her acceptance into the UCLA Business Program for the Fall of ’06! Back in high school, then Becky Twitchell was scouted by the prestigious Jazz Tap Ensemble. For almost 10 years, she traveled with them, directed the children’s “Caravan Project” for them, and then tapped her way onto the “Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration” featured on KCET. As she put her studies aside for most of her twenties, she rigorously went after her AA at Santa Monica College over the past two years while working full time. She was just notified of her acceptance into UCLA today! Congratulations to our dear friend, Becks. You soooo deserve this! P.S. Beef stew!!
Katie had to “convince” her future husband, Craig, to do an engagement session with Next Exit Photography. I know, I know. Engagement sessions do have a chesse-y vibe to them. But, I tell all of our clients, “Forget the cheese. It’s about being comfortable in front of the camera and being comfortable with your photographer! It makes the couple more relaxed and confident on their wedding day!” And, he gave in.
K&C, Adi and I hit every hot spot in Santa Monica during their photo shoot. From the 3rd Street Promenade, to the Palisades Park, to the game area of the Santa Monica Pier to the Beach! We did a ton of walking. But, it was so worth it. Katie was so-like… “America’s Next Top Model.” (Adi and I LOVE that show.) This couple was so much fun to work with and I cannot wait to shoot their wedding in August at the Huntington Hyatt in Huntington Beach!
When Suzanne and Michael met with Adi and I last year before booking us to photograph their wedding, there was an uncomfortable silence when we asked them “How did you guys meet?” They had already shared with us that they would be having an intimate ceremony and lunch at Michael’s Restaurant in Santa Monica under a chuppah in the garden, so Adi and I looked at one another and said “JDate? Us, too!?”
Yes, Adi and I met on the internet when it was run by mice on wheels almost 7 years ago. Many of our couples admit to us that they met online and we think it’s sooo cool! Suz and Michael’s wedding day was just perfect. They are one of the warmest (and most photogenic!) couples that we have ever worked with and were referred to us by their good friends (and Next Exit super clients) Serena and Walt who got married at La Venta Inn in 2004. Serena is expecting her first baby any day so we hope to be doing a Next Exit Baby Alert very soon (and shooting the baby portraits, of course!)
Marisa and Gerard have an amazing SOH (sense of humor). Marisa (who earns her dollars working for “The Mouse”) wrote me a hysterical email the day after their engagement shoot to tell me that they should have been pretending to read a sex book, instead of the movie books they chose. I’ll be sure to bring along a few to the wedding! He he. The bookstore we shot at was home to their first date. Awhhhh. Afterwards, I took them to one of my favorite Japanese garden nurseries on Sawtelle Blvd.
I am absolutely thrilled to be shooting M&G’s intimate Pasadenian wedding in July at the Ross Chapel at Neighborhood Unitarian and later for lunch at Cafe Santorini. One of my favorite people, Heather Ryon of Martinis & Bliss Events, will be coordinating the event!
Danielle + Matt = Lawyers in Love.
These two didn’t need any warm up at all!! They were dancing in the bubbles within minutes of starting their pre-wedding engagement session on the Santa Monica Pier. We all hit it off like old friends and had such a blast together. A special thanks to D&M for treating us to cocktails at the Lobster Restaurant after our shoot as the sun dipped behind the Pacific Ocean. It’s so nice getting to know our couples before the wedding day because it really puts everybody at ease! We can’t wait until Memorial Day Weekend at the Westlake Village Inn.
Adi designed this 20×20 “bubbles” storyboard for our new studio. Isn’t it bubble-icious?
