Congratulations to our fabulous 2004 Next Exit Bride and now, best buddie, Becky Bloom, on her acceptance into the UCLA Business Program for the Fall of ’06! Back in high school, then Becky Twitchell was scouted by the prestigious Jazz Tap Ensemble. For almost 10 years, she traveled with them, directed the children’s “Caravan Project” for them, and then tapped her way onto the “Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration” featured on KCET. As she put her studies aside for most of her twenties, she rigorously went after her AA at Santa Monica College over the past two years while working full time. She was just notified of her acceptance into UCLA today! Congratulations to our dear friend, Becks. You soooo deserve this! P.S. Beef stew!!

Katie had to “convince” her future husband, Craig, to do an engagement session with Next Exit Photography. I know, I know. Engagement sessions do have a chesse-y vibe to them. But, I tell all of our clients, “Forget the cheese. It’s about being comfortable in front of the camera and being comfortable with your photographer! It makes the couple more relaxed and confident on their wedding day!” And, he gave in.
K&C, Adi and I hit every hot spot in Santa Monica during their photo shoot. From the 3rd Street Promenade, to the Palisades Park, to the game area of the Santa Monica Pier to the Beach! We did a ton of walking. But, it was so worth it. Katie was so-like… “America’s Next Top Model.” (Adi and I LOVE that show.) This couple was so much fun to work with and I cannot wait to shoot their wedding in August at the Huntington Hyatt in Huntington Beach!

  • Katie ( Aug 4) - Yeah!!!!! We love them so far! We are so excited to see the rest. We had a lot of fun and we are both so glad we had them done. Can’t wait for the wedding! You two made it very comfortable for us. We love Next Exit!

  • Nanette - Congrats, Katie & Craig! Your pictures look awesome!

  • Nany Rose - Happy to see your pictures. I didn’t know you had black hair! You both look beautiful. Can’t wait to see you at the wedding. Love You, Nany Rose

  • Sandi - Katie and Craig…..Your engagement pictures are adorable and awesome! They’re such fun pics! You guys are such a great couple! Can’t wait until the big day! Love ya!!!

When Suzanne and Michael met with Adi and I last year before booking us to photograph their wedding, there was an uncomfortable silence when we asked them “How did you guys meet?” They had already shared with us that they would be having an intimate ceremony and lunch at Michael’s Restaurant in Santa Monica under a chuppah in the garden, so Adi and I looked at one another and said “JDate? Us, too!?”
Yes, Adi and I met on the internet when it was run by mice on wheels almost 7 years ago. Many of our couples admit to us that they met online and we think it’s sooo cool! Suz and Michael’s wedding day was just perfect. They are one of the warmest (and most photogenic!) couples that we have ever worked with and were referred to us by their good friends (and Next Exit super clients) Serena and Walt who got married at La Venta Inn in 2004. Serena is expecting her first baby any day so we hope to be doing a Next Exit Baby Alert very soon (and shooting the baby portraits, of course!)

  • Susan - The magic continues – aren’t they just the most beautiful couple? The photos are wonderful and capture the warmth, happiness and love of the day.

  • Yona & Tom - We’re so happy we could be there to share the wonder.
May you have a long and joyous life together. These photos are gorgeous!

  • Serena - Suzanne… you look like a movie star!
Walt and I were so happy to be a part of your and Michaels big day. Cat & Adi- these pictures are fabulous!
    xoxo-Serena and Walt

  • Suzanne - We are so happy with these and can’t WAIT to see the rest of the pictures!!!

Thanks so much Cat & Adi – you are the best.

    Suzanne & Michael

Marisa and Gerard have an amazing SOH (sense of humor). Marisa (who earns her dollars working for “The Mouse”) wrote me a hysterical email the day after their engagement shoot to tell me that they should have been pretending to read a sex book, instead of the movie books they chose. I’ll be sure to bring along a few to the wedding! He he. The bookstore we shot at was home to their first date. Awhhhh. Afterwards, I took them to one of my favorite Japanese garden nurseries on Sawtelle Blvd.
I am absolutely thrilled to be shooting M&G’s intimate Pasadenian wedding in July at the Ross Chapel at Neighborhood Unitarian and later for lunch at Cafe Santorini. One of my favorite people, Heather Ryon of Martinis & Bliss Events, will be coordinating the event!

  • Marisa & Gerard - I see our obsessive blog-monitoring has finally paid off!

They look great — can’t wait to see the rest on Wednesday.

Danielle + Matt = Lawyers in Love.
These two didn’t need any warm up at all!! They were dancing in the bubbles within minutes of starting their pre-wedding engagement session on the Santa Monica Pier. We all hit it off like old friends and had such a blast together. A special thanks to D&M for treating us to cocktails at the Lobster Restaurant after our shoot as the sun dipped behind the Pacific Ocean. It’s so nice getting to know our couples before the wedding day because it really puts everybody at ease! We can’t wait until Memorial Day Weekend at the Westlake Village Inn.
Adi designed this 20×20 “bubbles” storyboard for our new studio. Isn’t it bubble-icious?

  • Keri Arnold - The mannerisms are very characteristic of you both and captured is a beautiful artistic light. I am delighted you will have such great photos to highlight your memories!

  • Jessica Greene - These are the most beautiful photographs I have ever seen! And I’m not just saying that because Danielle is my twin 🙂 You are so in love and it really shows here. I love you both and I can’t wait for the big day.

  • Vanessa Hernandez - OMG! You guys look amazing!!!! God Bless You guys!!!

  • ellen - Wow! These pictures look like a commercial for an advertisement called the “glow of love,” a new perfume for the truly blessed. They are outstanding. I will say that Danielle and Matthew are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside.
    Hugs and Love
    Mom and Dad

  • Gabrielle Greene - You both look absolutely magnificent. You guys both look so natural and they bring out your wonderful features. I’ve never seen two people more in love through pictures. I’m counting down till the big day!!!

  • Daniela Decca - There is nothing left to say that hasn’t already been said. You two look so incredible together. I wish you all the happiness in the world and I can’t wait to share in your wedding day with you.

  • matt melillo - You guys look awesome, can’t wait to see you on your big day

  • Annie McCormick - You are a gorgeous couple and not only look amazing but you can feel the love!!! I can’t wait for your big day !!! xoxox annie.

  • Anna - Danielle & Matt Congratulations to you both and best wishes. You make a nice couple. Danielle you have bloomed into a lovely lady! Love, Anna (Vanessa’s mom)

  • Regina Bellesheim - Danielle I am so happy for you. You look amazing! Congradulations and best wishes. Matt is a very lucky guy!

  • Ashley Greene - Wow…You look like professional models. These could be in a magazine! I am so happy for you two! Your happiness and love shines through in these photos, just as much as you can feel it in person. 🙂

Our good friend and organizing Guru, John Trosko (featured on Daily Candy last week, lucky dog!), asked us if we would be the official photographers for the charity event, fresh stART 2006. Adi and I love being involved with local charities, but especially ones that support the arts! It’s so nice to mix up the current wedding season!
Last night, Los Angeles locals, art lovers and celebs arrived in droves to benefit therapeutic art programs for at-risk youth. fresh stART also provides “potential Los Angeles collectors with a personal connection to both established and emerging artists.”
Co-Chairs Cris McCall and Sally Horchow McCauley (these girls know everyone!) must have been absolutely thrilled with the phenomenal turnout of their event. The crowds started lining up more than an hour before it began. Within minutes of the doors opening, the little red dots started appearing across the walls of the Santa Monica Art Studios at the Santa Monica Airport. Nearly one hundred artists donated a portion of their proceeds to My Friend’s Place and A Window Between Worlds.
Here are a few of the hundreds of pics that we captured of the fresh stART supporters.

  • John Trosko - Adi and Cat,

Thank you so much for your incredible help last evening. I know the thanks will not stop with me. There are so many people that will be seeing your pictures in the days and months (and even years to come) and I deeply appreciate your committment and generosity to the community, and to our event.

The pictures you took are amazing, the lighting, art and people really look magical. I am so honored!
