Mentoring schedule for Wednesday (all times Central USA)

8 am – 10 am : Sergio + Critsey Rowe
10 am – NOON : DQ Studios
NOON – 2 pm : David Murray
2 pm – 4 pm : Tyler Wirken
4 pm – 6pm : Ben Chrisman + Anna Kuperberg
6 pm – 8 pm : JVS
8 pm – 10 pm : Brooks Whittington + Cat Benner (that’s ME!)

Here’s how it will work:

At 7:30 am Central time on Wednesday, HUY will login to and obtain a room name and the password. You can log in anytime after that. PLEASE SIGN IN WITH YOUR REAL FULL NAME or we will log you off.

Mentors will be miked up so everyone can hear them. They will make a brief introduction of themselves. After that, it’s up to the mentors to guide the session. They may want to answer your questions or present a topic of their choosing. It’s a completely open format.

Participants (you) will be able to participate using the chat box. We have 3 mics available so we can pass the mic control around if you want to talk. Everyone can hear everything and but only the 3 mics can talk.

If you’d like a brief critique of a few images or for the mentors to look at something, please have those images online and have the links ready. Let’s try to make the process as easy and smooth as possible.

If you run into technical problems during the day, you can email

The room capacity is 50 people but I don’t think we will need more than that at anyone one time.

If you’d like to thank the mentors personally, please feel free to make them feel appreciated for donating their time and expertise.

The people of Haiti thank you! FOR MORE INFO GO TO:

When Dan inquired last year looking for a wedding photographer, he was based in New York City and Kim was based in El Paso, Texas! Their “destination wedding” in beautiful Laguna Beach was going to be a blast!!
These two are the sweetest, kindest folks you’ll ever meet and we loved being a part of their wedding. It happened to be one of those really, really foggy days, which I think made for the coolest beach romantics!!

Lots of love to you both.

Wedding Pictures

  • Dan Hitomi - Adi — thanks for being our photographer and capturing our memories that day! Looking at the photos above made me re-create the memories vividly and made me thankful we were able to get our #1 choice.

You and Cat were a pleasure to work with and look forward to working with you again in the future.

Thanks for making me & Kim look great in these photos (and our guests too!).

Dana LaRue, founder of incredible blogsite, The Broke-Ass Bride, invited Adi and I to partake in an amazing online wedding contest last year. The winners, Joanna and Ken, had an uber-creative submission. They were the only ones to design an amazing PDF entry, full of pictures and stories (rather than the run of the mill, “we met here and are getting married there” entry that we saw almost 80 of!) She also happens to be a wedding blogger on one of our other favorite sites!! Johanna is Miss Poodle on the WeddingBee!!

Adi met the couple on one of our recent rainy (okay stormy) days in Southern California. It doesn’t happen very often that it pours in our neighborhood, and of course, we would have been happy to reschedule, however, Ken is juggling school as well as a probationary orientation for the Forest Service, so we had to stick with it.

To our surprise, the couple arrived in costume with props! Love it!!!

  • The Broke-Ass Bride - That kiss shot in the rain is EPIC! I love them all, great work, and great models! So happy to have been a part of this all 🙂

  • Ali (Mrs French Bulldog) - OMG I LOVE THEM! Cat, the one in the rain! WOW!

  • Cat - I can’t take any credit – – Adi shot the whole thing!

  • Johanna - OMG!!! I dont think I could have a bigger smile right now! The Pics are AMAZING! You guys are so talented and we are so lucky to have you as our photographers, IDK if I’ll be able to sleep, I’ll be looking at them all day/night long =P

Thank you so much! You guys Rock!

  • Lorenz - Some killer imagery!

  • Altaira - Oh My Gosh Johanna!! I cant wait to be at your wedding! I’m so happy for you and Kenny!!! And Next Exit, you guys are amazing! I wish i had heard of you guys for my wedding 🙂

  • Yuka photo art - Very creative and beautiful photographs!

  • The Rookie Wife - Absolutely amazing shoot. I love every photo!

  • Emily @ Southern Weddings - I love Miss Poodle!! She is so crazy talented. And these shots are awesome!

I met the adorable Sarah at a Beverly Hills Hotel bridal luncheon last year, hosted by Linda Howard, one of the city’s most incredible wedding planners. We hit of off and Sarah booked me to shoot her amazing Bacara Resort wedding in Santa Barbara this past October. The wedding was perfection, the decor was out of this world and the photo opportunities were abound! I really loved shooting Sarah and her hubby, Daniel, and their amazing families. Linda, and her extraordinary team of planners, did a phenomenal job designing the wedding. Thank you to her team of A++ vendors who helped make the event such a success!!

    So inspiring.

  • Cat - Thanks, Nellie! Tell Leila we say hi.

When Michael contacted me 5 days before his wedding (sans wedding photographer) I thought it had to be a trick! But, actually, they had asked a friend who ended up being unable to do it and Next Exit got darn lucky!!

They are such an adorable couple and they partied like rockstars at their beautiful and intimate wedding at a sweet photography studio.
Of course, their church, St. Monica‘s is Santa Monica is one of our favorites and we LOVE to capture the stunning light streaming through those big doors.

The reception was a blast and they sang solos along with a few of their guests which was the hit of the night.

  • Cat - No idea, but I’ll email the bride!
