This post is a little different than some of our other family portrait posts as you will read.
Gahlit, this beautiful, strong, adoring mother and wife is in her second remission of AML (acute myeloid leukemia). Her mission is to educate people on her disease as well as the on the donation of bone marrow. (She had a bone marrow and stem cell transplant as well as a subsequent mini transplant.) To learn more about her disease, please go to the City of Hope website.
I just got off the phone with Gahlit and she told me that she is having an amazing week, she feels really great and has been going out on the town to yummy restaurants with her family and friends.
Party it up, my friend.

  • Deidre - She is so beautiful – what an adorable family, and so strong too. I wish them all the best.

  • Ms. 122 - what a beautiful family. i don’t know if she wears one day-to-day, but i love that she had these photographs taken without a wig. looking at her, you can just see the strength and resilience. thank you for sharing.

  • heather - Beautiful! So inspiring.

  • Jenifer - Just stunning. You have truly captured the spirit that is Gahlit! And what spunk Maayan has!

  • Anna - This brought tears to my eyes. Among other things, a wordless lesson for women everywhere that it is not your hair but rather your spirit that makes you beautiful.

Upon meeting up with Lauren and John at UCLA, Lauren presented me with a bag full of amazing books for Clara. Thank you so much!!! Lauren is a voracious reader and happens to work in the publishing biz. Many a trade show and all the free books you can eat. How freaking cool is that? These two were tremendously fun and incredibly spontaneous. I just know that their wedding at the LA Ebell later this year will be amazing.

  • Jennifer Wilson - These are gorgeous!! She has a great smile – I especially love that last black and white shot 🙂

So what if Brian is a Manchester United fan… (Go Arsenal!) It doesn’t change that fact that he and Deb had the most spectacular wedding at the Marina Marriott in Marina Del Rey and I loved being there to photograph it. It was a treat shooting the bridal party in the hipster bar, Glow, down in the lobby.
After the rooftop ceremony overlooking the marina, Deb, Brian and I had crazy fun navigating the incredibly motley group of strangers (read creepy) that were binge celebrating the Independence Day weekend across the street at the beach.
A big big thank you to Toby and Jenny in Palo Alto who referred us the wedding. Toby is Cat’s dad’s BFF from medical school back in South Africa. It is always a thrill when our family cheerleads for us.

I also want to send out a big thank you to the ladies at the Marriott who coordinate an amazing party EVERY time.

Always great work by Walter Pawluk Wedding Videography.

I loved working with Cheyanne and Marco on their amazing day! No getting ready and no ceremony… Just tons of fun with the couple and their bridal party (who braved the 107 degree weather on the year’s hottest day to date) and a super fun reception at Orange Hill Restaurant.

The makeup and hair is beyond fabulous from Kelly Zhang and her team of pros. Exceptional that it held up through the night in that heat!

Rosalinda told me that she was a details girl, and boy, was she telling it straight! Such amazing creativity was put into her wedding day. She and her adoring hubby Louis were such great fun. Here is a list of some of her amazing vendors!
