Ok. Who doesn’t think Chase should be in GAP Ads? Thats what I thought.

This 8:30 AM session with Chase and his family was a thrill and a pleasure. I wish all my early mornings could be this great.

  • Leigh Ann - What a guy! What a family! I love you guys!!!!!

    Leigh Ann

Kristina (self-professed blog stalker) and Riaz (professional Rugby player and fellow South African) were just so much fun to work with. Their location in Redondo Beach, Verandas, is such a pleasure to work at. The staff just cannot be beat! They are partnered with one of our other favorite New York Food Company venues, La Venta. The in house wedding planners treat their clients (and vendors) like family. We love them! Another wedding vendor who treats everybody like family is Sherry McAnelly. (it probably helps that I take pictures of her gorgeous baby boy!) Anyways, she is so amazing and professional and I highly recommend her to anybody who is looking for a wedding hair and make-up artist for their upcoming nuptials. We worked with DJ Steve Irons twice this month and it is always dancerific. Florist Bobbe Vagel continues to wow us at every event he works with us on. He is certainly one of the most innovative wedding florists in Los Angeles. The Pat Maki Players quartet provided the beautiful sounds of the ceremony.
Kristina, I hope that you continue to stalk us for years to come even though you’ve seen your wedding photography teasers!!!

Kristen and Sean are getting married at La Venta in Palos Verdes next July but for their engagement session, we decided on something a little less pretty and green. I love the harsh shadows and cold granite, don’t you? Of course, it helps that the couple was adorable and easy to work with. I can’t wait to work with them in ’08! I should add that Kristen caught the bouquet at a wedding we shot three years ago…it works!

  • Rebecca Stone, {duet} Weddings - It is not even fair how gorgeous these two are!! Beautiful shots, Adi! I love the warm glow of the light. Can’t wait for the big day next July! 🙂
    xo,
    Rebecca

    xoxo

  • Katy - These are gorgeous, I love the Getty Center (although as a former architect I just have to add it’s actually travertine not granite 🙂 ) It looks like you had beautiful light for this shoot!

One of my very favorite weddings this year took place at The Parker in Palm Springs, California. A wee two-hour drive from the wessside, the trip is well worth the swollen bum once you exit your car and breath in the fresh desert air and gasp at the clear skies and glowing sun. Maryana and Aaron were referred to me by one of my favorite florists in Los Angeles. Val Eule, who owns Just Flowers, is a small operation that treats her clients just like Adi and I do, as part of the family. If you are looking for a top notch wedding florist in Southern California, without the attitude and price tag of the big studios in the city, look no further than Val. Tel her Cat send you, of course, for some extra special Next Exit lovin’. Another huge nod to wedding planner Alexandra Kolendrianos who I just adored working with. She’s totally my style and I cannot wait to work with her again soon.
Maryana and Aaron, thank you guys for being so amazing and for making my picha taking so easy that day. I couldn’t have wished for a nicer couple in a more beautiful setting.

Today, Adi and I received a comment on our blog. Like others, it was an affirmation of the amazing clients who hire us and hopefully of the wonderful photos that we attempt to capture of them. Adi was intrigued by the commenter’s URL and clicked it to find the following post on her blog. Adi called me on my cell (I was shopping at Century City Mall, holiday shopping, eek) and I could barely understand his excitement over the load music in The Gap. It wasn’t until now when I arrived home that I was able to read it for myself. What can I say, Angela? Your words mean so much to us, more than you could possibly ever know! I could go on and on about how much Next Exit has become “us”, Cat and Adi, and how much joy it has brought to our lives, amazing new friends, financial stability and most importantly, a deeper love between the two of us. It’s people like you, and Nanette and Sarah, that make what we do so worthwhile. Thank you!!!

“So today, Shirley Tipsy gave me the cutest Christmas Card. It’s got a picture that her dad took of her and her bf, GH (that’s short for Guitar Hero) – and it reminded me that DH and I need to take our Christmas card picture soon (I’m still deciding what to wear – what’s new?). Anyway, her dad took a really great picture, and they look splendid in it.
For some reason, it got me to thinking more and more about how much I want to take good pictures. I don’t know that I’d make a career out of being a photographer (I’m not disciplined enough), but if I had the talent that Cat and Adi from Next Exit have, then I definitely would. They are actually the ones who really got me and DH interested in photography! Well, DH already had an interest in it, but when we heard about Next Exit, he got even more interested, and has been steadily working on his photog skills (which are fabulous – look at the pictures in my blog before this!).
The first time I heard about them was when I was trying to pick out my wedding dress. I showed my friend SS what it looked like, and she said she had a friend who had a similar type of dress and that it came out absolutely gorgeous on film. Well, that friend is NannersP, and she did look so fabulous in her dress, which made me excited to get mine. I have to admit, I looked through pretty much all of NannersP’s wedding photos, trying to get ideas for my own wedding. I realized I was “oohing” and “ahhing” at all her pictures – mostly because of how great she and her hubby looked together and how beautiful her wedding turned out. But, I was also really captivated by the quality of the pictures. The photos were creative, fun, natural, and they really captured her day so perfectly. I was curious about who her photographers were and I found the link to them on her blog.
I gotta admit, on the day that I went to their site, I was stuck for a little over 3 hours. I looked at every single page in their blog to see the pictures that they took and I was floored by their talent. I was already locked into a contract with my photographer (who did a great job, as well), but I wish I knew about Next Exit first because I would’ve totally booked them right away.
Lucky us, though – SS booked them for her wedding, which meant we were gonna see them in action and SS was guaranteed to have fabulous pictures of her wedding day! I kid you not, I felt like I was gonna meet a celebrity and I was totally giddy! 😉 DH was familiar with their work and their site as well, because I would update him every time they posted up new pictures, so he was excited to see them, also.
I spotted Cat immediately. Okay, okay, the camera totally gave her away. I was scanning the crowd for her and Adi, but I think Adi must’ve been busy because there was another girl there with her. They were really inconspicuous and unintrusive during the wedding and when I wasn’t looking at the gorgeous bride, I was watching them take pictures. It seems to come so natural to Cat, like she’s just snapping away at any ol’ subject. When they took pictures outside, Cat was really funny and got the crowd into getting their picture taken. I thought it was cool that she was being so down to earth and playful – it made everyone relax a little and feel more comfortable having their picture taken. Man, I really wish we chose them for our photographer 🙁
Anyway, I’m sure we’ll use them for photography one day. They do baby pictures now, as well as family and holiday portraits! I’m excited just thinking about it :)”

  • Stephanie Williams - Wow! What an amazing, amazing compliment!!

  • Katie Moos - Hi, I was blog surfing and came across your blog—what an awesome compliment!! That’s a HUGE pat on the back. Keep it up guys!!!

  • joyce israel-del rosario - it was indeed a blessing in disguise that our first photographer was a scam, otherwise we wouldn’t have done our research and stumble into your website. Brian and I are so happy with our wedding pics. highest praises to next exit!

  • Nanette - That really is such a sweet post. You guys give brides everywhere photographer-envy. 🙂
