I don’t think that there is a greater honor for a wedding photographer than to shoot a fellow wedding photographer’s actual wedding! Kim Fox is a talented Southern California wedding photographer whose work we greatly admire. Adi and I felt privileged to be a part of this magical weekend in Desert Hot Springs and Joshua Tree celebrating Kim and Jimmy’s wedding. Kim was so into her wedding photos that she put Adi and I up in the adjoining room to her honeymoon suite! All photos, all the time. There were no limits, no lists, no restrictions. Just pure photo fabulousness. In fact, we even shot her pre-wedding “boudoir” on our own bed!
An intimate affair with about 35 close friends and relatives, we took over the Beat Hotel and its nearby dessert roads and made them into our own little wedding fashion shoot location. The ceremony was “experienced” in between the mountains and the Joshua Trees. Poetry was recited, songs were sung, guitars were strummed, and then, the glass was broken under the chuppah and we all danced the horah under the setting sun. Kim is such a dear friend and she and Jimmy make a perfect set.
After the wedding was over, Kim said to me, “I get it now. I understand how a bride feels on her wedding day.”
I personally agree. My own wedding day four years ago was the happiest day of my entire life.

  • Becky - Gorgeous! I’m awed! You guys are awesome!!!!!

    P.S. BEEF STEW!

    Awesome work!

Today is a beautiful day in Los Angeles and en la Casa de Next Exit Photography. The sun is shinning, the birds are chirping, our cats are behaving, and, oh yeah, WE WERE PUBLISHED IN THE KNOT MAGAZINE! The Knot is one of the most widely read wedding magazines in the country. It is just a dream come true to be included! We are also featured on the website with additional photos and a full story about the wedding. Click here to see the story!
I met the lovely Rebecca Crumley (Photo Editor at the Knot) at a Southern California “women in wedding photography” gathering last year. She was so warm and approachable and we got to chatting about all of you! (our fabulous Next Exit clients, of course). I gave her the low down on a few of your wedding details and she loved the story of Danyel and Elliot’s backyard carnival themed affair. She asked me to send her a few images, and poof! Several nail-bitting months later, she emailed me to say that the Knot had chosen it as a Real Wedding! Danyel is a published novelist and editor. Her blog is one of the best. Elliot is the Editor-in-Chief of XXL Magazine, “Hip-Hop on a Higher Level.”
Tiffany submitted her own wedding and charmed the pants off several editors, including the Knot’s. So that’s how Tiffany landed us a full-page image of her ceremony detail (chivari chair with parasol.) Tiffany now designs wedding day jewelry. Check out Creme de Luxe.
We are too excited for words. This is such an incredible honor for us as wedding photographers to be published in a magazine that we hold in the highest regards. Thank you Rebecca, Danyel, Elliot and Tiffany!

Christa and Roman were our second wedding couple this spring to get married at a vineyard in wine country Temecula (out of three!). We have fallen in love with this place. It’s so magical, romantic and the locals are a pleasure to work with! Wilson Creek Winery is set on perfectly manicured lawns next to hundreds of rows of grape vines. You just can’t take a bad picture there. Of course, when you throw in a couple like C&R… full of love, life and excitement, every picture turns into gold! FYI, wedding planning by Diana Ross of Celebrations by Diana is a must if you are getting married in Temecula Valley. She is so easy to work with and made it all “happen.”
One of the nicest couples we know, C&R are Disney-a-holics. You can see the happy spirit of Mickey and Minnie in them, I swear. Spending the day under the golden sun with this fabulous couple and their supportive families was effortless. We hope that we’ll get to sip a bit more of that famous almond champagne next time we hang out!

When Stuart and Debbie came in to meet with Next Exit Photography almost 7 months ago, it seemed like we were old friends. They found us on the recommended vendor list of their location. Although they are both about 20 years my senior, we had so much to laugh and talk about. There was an instant connection. Spending the day with them at the Oviatt Building Penthouse in Downtown Los Angeles was such a pleasure. They wanted fun and romantic pictures and they let me talk them into a “streets of downtown mini fashion shoot.” They were such great sports! I just know that Debbie is going to faint when she sees the photos of herself looking like a super model.
Carolyn Scott and her team from Ineventions Event Planning helped the day run as smoothly as possible.  Reverend J.P. Reynolds preformed a beautiful ceremony. Debbie Fields from Floral Fields designed the most beautiful chuppah and bridal bouquets and Truly Yours Catering made a delish buffet dinner.
On a side note, a perspective bride phoned me this morning. It’s her second wedding and she didn’t want to make a big deal of her photos “this time.” I say, do what Stuart and Debbie did! Make your wedding photos into a big deal! They are forever. Order a gorgeous heirloom album, a custom frame for your wall, whatever makes you happy! Then, share them with your family for generations to come. You won’t regret it!

Let me tell you something about Joanna and Charles. These two were made for each other. It is so wonderful to see a couple have so much fun at their wedding. I mean, they barely took a break to sit down and eat. From minute one at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Pacific Palisades to pictures on the beach in front of Shutters On the Beach in Santa Monica, and up to the Sheraton Delphina, there was never a dull moment. And the cherry on the top of a great night was a surprise that Joanna’s mother arranged for the newlyweds…a 10 piece USC Marching band came out to crank up the crowd. It turns out that Joanna is third generation USC Trojan. Her adorable, sweet grandmother seemed to enjoy the band most of all. The band wasn’t a surprise to me though. I was in the know. FIGHT ON!

  • nancy niles - Hi Adi and Cat, I just saw the proof album for Joanna and Charles. WOW, The photos are fantastic and really captured the joy of the day. Adi, we so enjoyed having you spend this special day with our family and friends. You have a wonderful way of being relaxed. friendly and professional all at the same time. With thanks and love, mother of the beautiful bride.

Adi and I are grinning from ear to ear. As most of you know, the two of us have built Next Exit Photography over the last four years without spending one dollar on advertising. All of our business comes to us from the word of mouth, of our clients and friends, weddings guests, vendors, venues, published work, etc. We are so fortunate to have such an incredible team of support! Due to the incredible support you give, we booked four weddings this week, each so amazing in their own way.

#1 is a couple that we have never met! They had heard about us through the grapevine and took a leap of faith. How cool!
#2 is adorable and sweet. We booked this couple’s wedding on the spot. That doesn’t happen very often in wedding photography world, but when it does, it is always meant to be. The fabulous bride wrote us a note that arrived today, “If only all the other decisions we need to make in the coming months are as easy as choosing Next Exit for our photography, then this wedding planning business should be a piece of cake.” How awesome is that!
#3 A couple who was referred to us by their florist, Val Eule. Their wedding is on a Tuesday in TWO weeks! Besides being amazingly talented, Val is a long time friend of our family and attended our own wedding four years ago! Thanks, Val!
#4 A couple we met with almost two weeks ago came back to hire us! The fabulous groom writes, “It really wasn’t a tough decision for us at all, we think you guys are great (and very talented). Insert smiley face.”

WOW! Could we be more excited or what!!? We are so lucky to do what we do AND have the coolest clients in the world! On another note, Next Exit Kids is starting to take off! … Be sure to book your family or children’s portrait session in time so that we can design your Next Exit Holiday Cards!
