When Stuart and Debbie came in to meet with Next Exit Photography almost 7 months ago, it seemed like we were old friends. They found us on the recommended vendor list of their location. Although they are both about 20 years my senior, we had so much to laugh and talk about. There was an instant connection. Spending the day with them at the Oviatt Building Penthouse in Downtown Los Angeles was such a pleasure. They wanted fun and romantic pictures and they let me talk them into a “streets of downtown mini fashion shoot.” They were such great sports! I just know that Debbie is going to faint when she sees the photos of herself looking like a super model.
Carolyn Scott and her team from Ineventions Event Planning helped the day run as smoothly as possible.  Reverend J.P. Reynolds preformed a beautiful ceremony. Debbie Fields from Floral Fields designed the most beautiful chuppah and bridal bouquets and Truly Yours Catering made a delish buffet dinner.
On a side note, a perspective bride phoned me this morning. It’s her second wedding and she didn’t want to make a big deal of her photos “this time.” I say, do what Stuart and Debbie did! Make your wedding photos into a big deal! They are forever. Order a gorgeous heirloom album, a custom frame for your wall, whatever makes you happy! Then, share them with your family for generations to come. You won’t regret it!

Let me tell you something about Joanna and Charles. These two were made for each other. It is so wonderful to see a couple have so much fun at their wedding. I mean, they barely took a break to sit down and eat. From minute one at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Pacific Palisades to pictures on the beach in front of Shutters On the Beach in Santa Monica, and up to the Sheraton Delphina, there was never a dull moment. And the cherry on the top of a great night was a surprise that Joanna’s mother arranged for the newlyweds…a 10 piece USC Marching band came out to crank up the crowd. It turns out that Joanna is third generation USC Trojan. Her adorable, sweet grandmother seemed to enjoy the band most of all. The band wasn’t a surprise to me though. I was in the know. FIGHT ON!

  • nancy niles - Hi Adi and Cat, I just saw the proof album for Joanna and Charles. WOW, The photos are fantastic and really captured the joy of the day. Adi, we so enjoyed having you spend this special day with our family and friends. You have a wonderful way of being relaxed. friendly and professional all at the same time. With thanks and love, mother of the beautiful bride.

Adi and I are grinning from ear to ear. As most of you know, the two of us have built Next Exit Photography over the last four years without spending one dollar on advertising. All of our business comes to us from the word of mouth, of our clients and friends, weddings guests, vendors, venues, published work, etc. We are so fortunate to have such an incredible team of support! Due to the incredible support you give, we booked four weddings this week, each so amazing in their own way.

#1 is a couple that we have never met! They had heard about us through the grapevine and took a leap of faith. How cool!
#2 is adorable and sweet. We booked this couple’s wedding on the spot. That doesn’t happen very often in wedding photography world, but when it does, it is always meant to be. The fabulous bride wrote us a note that arrived today, “If only all the other decisions we need to make in the coming months are as easy as choosing Next Exit for our photography, then this wedding planning business should be a piece of cake.” How awesome is that!
#3 A couple who was referred to us by their florist, Val Eule. Their wedding is on a Tuesday in TWO weeks! Besides being amazingly talented, Val is a long time friend of our family and attended our own wedding four years ago! Thanks, Val!
#4 A couple we met with almost two weeks ago came back to hire us! The fabulous groom writes, “It really wasn’t a tough decision for us at all, we think you guys are great (and very talented). Insert smiley face.”

WOW! Could we be more excited or what!!? We are so lucky to do what we do AND have the coolest clients in the world! On another note, Next Exit Kids is starting to take off! … Be sure to book your family or children’s portrait session in time so that we can design your Next Exit Holiday Cards!

Aubrey has known Adi for over ten years, so it was such an honor when she asked us to shoot her wedding next summer to her adorable guy, Josh. Happy wedding photographers are we! We had such a blast shooting their fabulous engagement session in a little nook just by their place on Tujunga Blvd. in Studio City. We’ve been trying to mix up our usual line up of Los Angeles engagement picture spots! From hot dog stands to coffee shops and from alleyways to street signs we covered their hood. Adi and I have been really into nine-ups lately. It started with bubbles, who knows where we’ll take it next! Make sure to check out the last photo I shot where Adi and Josh popped their heads out during the middle of Aubrey’s “ANTM” moment!

Simone and Ryan were born to be Next Exit clients. It’s okay to say that, right? We all got along swimmingly throughout the entire wedding planning process. We promised to postpone our inevitable friendship until after their honeymoon. We’re ready now! Their engagement session a few months ago was one of our all time faves. We couldn’t wait until their wedding day at the Skirball Center. It was gorgeous! It helps that Ryan is an event lighting designer for The Lighter Side so the ballroom was lit up in all its glory. If you call, ask for him directly so that he can take good care of you. Simone had a helpful hand from wedding planner and Next Exit pal, Alexandra Doudian, from Enchanted Events & Design, who is always calm, professional and organized. Rabbi Steven Carr Rueben from Kehillat Israel Temple in Pacific Palisades (my old hood) performed a beautiful ceremony under the chuppah exquisitely designed by Elizabeth Bailey at Barrington Flowers. Wedding photography and photojournalism in Los Angeles at it’s best. Thanks, S&R.

  • cpsocal - Stunning!!

  • Lucretia - Breath taking as always! I only wish I could have worked with you both. I wish you both well. =)

Living in an urban area you can sometimes forget how beautiful nature is. The greatest thing about living in Los Angeles is that around every corner you find some secret display of nature and beauty, the beach, the mountains, the desert. Brian and Kate are getting married at such an oasis, Temescal Gateway Park in Pacific Palisades this June. After reviewing several engagement portrait spot favorites, we decided to shoot at their wedding location to be! We had a great time walking around their unbelievably tranquil site, chatting about the big day and trying to figure out what musical the community center kids were rehearsing. BTW, it was Les Miserables. Should we attend?
